Performance Award Criteria

Utilizing the most recent 12-month data from the U.S. Department of Labor, we identify the top ten states in each UI performance category of a) average weeks of duration and b) claim exhaustion rate.

The rankings for all states that are in either or both rankings are combined and those with a score of 20 or less are semi-finalists for the award.

For example, if a state ranks 3rd in duration and 15th in exhaustion its total score bill be 18. Semi-finalists are requested to provide a description of policies, procedures and/or initiatives that have an impact on their duration and/or exhaustion performance and supporting reemployment goals and performance measures. Based on responses, three states are selected as finalists for the award.
